3 Tips for a Mindful day
Hmmm ‘Mindful’ …oh how I love this word, in just saying it it creates itself! It’s such a power word these days but what does it really mean? Oxford dictionary says it’s focusing one's awareness on the present moment, especially as part of a therapeutic or meditative technique. I know it prevents me being mindFULL and helps me avoid - making mistakes, having accidents, irrational responses, bad decisions, overcomplicating things and missing precious moments! It brings me to the now, so I notice the important things and enjoy the simplicity of life. It’s not something I have yet mastered it’s an ongoing, and I expect lifetime, practice, but I certainly reap the benefits on a daily basis when I remember to do these three things below.
My 3 tips on bringing more mindfulness into your day, every day;
Tune into your senses ~ upon waking, before you stir, notice and absorb each for a moment….the 1st sound… 1st touch… 1st sight… 1st taste… 1st smell. Allow your senses to connect your mind to your surrounds. Repeat throughout the day, in the shower, when you’re cooking, any time you feel you need to be more present.
Move your breath with intention ~ in and out of the nostrils, let it drop low and wide into the body, feeling its way in….. and out. The breath provides an awareness of the movements in both mind + body.
Notice your choices ~ even the menial ones, they are reflecting your mood, your emotional state, plus directing what happens in your day and what you attract. Choose who (or how) to be in each moment eg “I make choices aligned with my goal”
