get familiar with where we’re staying at Tallala Retreat in the south-west corner of Sri Lanka, checkout the Ayurvedic Spa treatment menu and Wellness Bathhouse (sauna, steam room, red light therapy, chill bath, magnesium pool)
Sri Lankan Rupee ~ you won’t need any cash if you are staying at the Marino Beach Colombo, getting them to pick you up at the airport and having breakfast there, then jumping in the transfer with me 10am 16th Nov. You can room charge pay as you check out, same again at Tallala Retreat including for tours and treatments. However if you intend to travel around the local village area, pay for your lunches elsewhere I suggest you bring cash to Tallala Retreat. There are ATMs at the airport and in the shopping centre within Marino Beach. Travel Money cards are great for setting your exchange rate sorted prior to leaving.
What to expect when we’re there;
We’re in between the two main seasons. In the South-west corner we are transitioning into the dry season, expect average temps of 30 degrees and mildly humid, mostly if not all sunny days. If you intend on travelling elsewhere in Sri Lanka the North-east is commencing its monsoonal season, so central highlands, west and southern areas of Sri Lanka are best for this trip.
If you’re jumping in the shuttle we depart 10am Monday 16th November from Marino Beach Colombo travelling 2.5-3hrs to the south west corner - important you advise me if you don’t need or will miss this transport, you will need to arrange alternative transport (save me in your phone What’s App phone/text me +61 0434 417 261)

Tallala reception arrange surfing lessons, extra Ayurvedic Spa treatments, tours ~ others in the group will want to explore too ie tea plantation, sea turtle hatchery, blue whale watching, highly recommended Safari trip to Udawalawe National Park - a very early departure travelling around 1.5hrs there, then open-air jeeps 3hrs with tour guides around the park.
Departure on Saturday 21st November from Tallala Retreat at 12.00pm - OPTIONAL shuttle bus return to Marino Beach Colombo, arriving around 3pm where you can make your way onto your next location, or airport that evening.
Tallala local village is a bit like visiting Kuta Bali in the 80’s, nothing fancy, dirt roads, very basic market shops, family run restaurants ~ Sri Lankan people are the most humble honest welcoming gentle culture I have met. Mostly a Buddhist country, with Hindu + Muslim + Christian the minority. Be mindful OUTSIDE of the retreat venue and beachside towns in some areas in cities, towns and particularly mountains it is respectful o have conservative cover of legs and shoulders, nothing revealing.
Alcohol is served in the restaurant. Feel free to add it to your meal time respectfully, please consider others who may be ‘retreating’, wishing to avoid it or detoxing.
