Flexibility February - join me 15mins a day?

If you have ever wanted to do the splits here is your chance to explore them!  Starting tomorrow (or any day you choose) with these four 15min sessions in flexibility repeated x 7 for 28 days;

  • Split Flexibility Day 1; Deep static stretches for the hips, legs + spine.

  • Split Flexibility Day 2; Dynamic stretches to mobilise and increase your range and joint health.

  • Split Flexibility Day 3; Stability leads to safe flexibility! Flexibility in larger muscles is not possible if stabilisers are weak.

  • Split Flexibility Day 4; Breathing our way into flexibility with Yin.

We all need a balance of flexibility and strength not only for our joint and muscle health but for the stability and flexibility of our mind.  

Yogi Bhajan said "a flexible spine is a flexible mind open to possibilities and change, a rigid spine is stuck in old habits and fear of change."

Last year my ongoing knee rehab required more regular weight sessions at the gym, I also experienced deep grief and loved that the strength work was helping me grow stronger and hold it together emotionally.  In turn my Yoga practice dropped right back to the breath and gentle....however now I am feeling something this hypermobile body is not accustomed to - I am so stiff!  So for the next 28 days I hope you'll join me 15min each day for Flexibility February, you'll see, my starting point in the videos is with limited range too (and breath gasping!) - aaarrrrgghhhh

The goal is not necessarily in 28 days we force ourselves grimacing into the splits, but it's to discover where we need more flexibility and exploring our own unique needs on how to find it - that's why over the 4 days we work with a variety of approaches to flexibility which are unique to our different body types.  There is no one way there for us all, and for some of us accepting pelvis to the floor splits may never be possible .... well that's a part of being flexible too I guess, in the mind ;-).  What I do know is that if you repeat these 4 days for 28 days you WILL notice a dramatic difference!

From 1st February it's part of your Monthly Membership under Class Style 'Yoga Therapy' ~ if you're not already a member your first 7 days are FREE to trial.  All you need is a couple of blankets, a belt/strap, a block or rolled beach towel, a theraband.
