5 Tips to re-ignite your home Yoga practice

Ahhhhh now we’re in the depths of winter and for some (like me!) the wheels may have fallen off the home Yoga practice? There couldn’t be a more important time to be moving to stay limbered, injury free, digestion + circulation stimulated, with lungs clear and open. It’s the perfect time to breathe new life into your home yoga practice. Here are 5 surefire tips to help you fall back in love with your yoga practice, no matter how long you’ve been away from your mat.

  1. Have your props out and visible - whether laid out or in a basket for quick’n easy setup. Just putting them out where you can see them is a great first step that doesn’t require you actually DO any yoga. They’ll subliminally say, “Use me! Use me!” and you’ll start to remember how great yoga feels in your body, your mind, and your spirit.

  2. Welcome yourself to practice with no expectation of outcome. Check in with where you are at today, no judgement, just allowing yourself to be, to move and breathe from there.

  3. Check out below my suggested Playlist Spotlight or join a LIVE ONLINE class to keep you motivated. Perhaps you need more strength or more release? Perhaps you need more rest or more movement? Perhaps you simply need to sit and breathe?

  4. Make yourself accountable and commit to attending a weekly timeslot - mix it up with mornings and evenings. Schedule your practice time just as you would an appointment or a date with a friend.

  5. Notice how you feel at the end of your practice and thank yourself for showing up. Acknowledging how great you feel after you’ve done yoga makes it easier to come back next time. Whatever your practice was like, even when it falls short of your expectations, be grateful that you did it.
